Good News Everyone!
Forum ImageAhh, how those words are etched in the burned out, tin-ear lobes that all of our Raid Members must have. Happy

Certainly, we'd downed Professor Putricide sometime ago; however, as we worked through Hard Modes, Professor Putricide (along with Lady Deathwhisper, before him) had been an exciting Ride.

Malleable Goo, Plagues, Double Adds. Oh My, Good times!

And, over the last two raid lock outs- wedged around shortened Raid weeks due to the 4th- we'd gradually worked Putricide down from a steady 80%, to 50%, to 8%, and then ~4.5-5%. (Along the way we ushered in our 2nd Frostmourne winner, Durendal!)

We knew this- and the officers were in agreement that we'd start the week off with a dual-pronged approach:
- First, kill Festergut, so that Goregasm's hopes could be dashed for the 27th (?) time as [Black Bruise] fails to drop. (And it did... fail to drop.. and so damn the counter and the RNG to hell)
- Second, go all in- aim for the missing 5% and take down Putricide on Wednesday.

So after cruising (amazingly) through 6 1-shots, we were on Putricide.

Good news everyone! He's going to kick our asses again!

But we were focused. And promptly wiped.

The usual caustic combination of Malleable Goo, Slow DPS, ground bombs and (perhaps) covert hand jobs under the desk.

We fire up another attempt... and did better but wiped again.

After this many wipes, mid-week, on a new boss- tempers start flaring.

So we lose 2 more wipes, directly to healing issues (be they assignments or execution) and swap in Saphrag to go with 6.

Healing is better. It's stabilized, but DPS has dipped - it becomes apparent- to a level that is too low to sustain a kill.

We wipe again. And Again. F-bomb fly. Tempers flare. Baby Jesus cries.
And time slips by.

We've moved from ahead of the curve, thanks to fantastic work and focus, to behind the curve.

It's 10:40- 10:40- and we're staring at :20 min until the raid is over.

There's discussion in the officer channels (mainly along the lines of "are we really going to clear the fucking trash and have 10min until the raid is over?" I, as I've been frequently told, am Satan Incarnate, so the answer was readily apparent: "Yeah- and we're going to kill him too" (probably with some more f-bombs in there as well)).

So we went all in. We were short DPS. So we needed more DPS. We needed more focus: less malleable goo, much quicker transitions to adds, directed heals at a higher throughput.

Alkima- back in. Slapchopz- back in. Paperheart- to Surrealist.
And- at least in my case- a healthy dose of Shake Weight, the ultimate Raid Add On. Forum Image

Engage.
It's the last damn attempt of the evening. We're nearing 50 attempts on the boss over the last 2 weeks- and we've had really really close attempts.

Our tanks are ready. Misdirect to Mythran. Grombrigrggrgl to the Suit. Hooker, until phase 3, fwap.
Our tree tandem of Jazzies and Tondo, our Priest pair of Surrealist (awlt!) and Natashaa, and the guild anger channeler (myself), were ready.

And our DPS, from stalwart ass-kicking machines like Cutrock, Glasshadow, Gizmoduck, Palatinus, broken hearted Goregasm, Zeanto, hell, all the way through my damn Core Hound Pup were ready to roll.

As we had all evening, we blew through 80%, and the first two adds, faster then the Fed practices Quantative Easing.
The heart of the fight is begins.
Plagues were handled with aplomb, led off the bat by our mighty Mage core (thank you Doper, Gizmo, Alkima, Slaps) and healers (Tondo and Paper/Surreal!!). Everyone contributed, though, Melee, Off tanks, Ranged DPS - assisted.

And we worked down to 35%.
We'd been here before...

Dead.
Shift to Putricide.

Mythran Grombrindal Hooker Palatinus (that's right, bitches! How about a random Shield wall to extend the 2 stack an additional 15seconds!)

Avoid Malleable Goo.
Stay out of the path of the tanks.

Here comes the plague...

It's not always pretty, this process of progression sausage-making. We will lose our tempers. And we will regain composure. But the betterment of one another, the improvement of our own play, the rewards associated with the effort - those are undeniable.

Congratulations to all the winners including:

Halion
* Zeanto - [Astrylian's Sutured Cinch]
* Goregasm - [Protector's Mark of Sanctification]
* Alkima - [Vanquisher's Mark of Sanctification]

Be the hero.
